Special Olympics Victoria is excited to be able to offer a unique opportunity for someone who is passionate about sport and wants to make a difference in the community.
Special Olympics is an organisation that provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability. Currently in Victoria, programs are offered in aquatics, athletics, basketball, bocce, gymnastics, softball, tennis and ten pin bowling. Sports such as cricket, golf, sailing and soccer, are in various stages of development and we plan to have them established as an optional sports in 2009.
Special Olympics Victoria is looking for a dynamic and experienced person to take up the integral volunteer role of State Sports Manager on its State Board.
The objective of this role is to provide sports leadership within Special Olympics Victoria and to ensure that all our athletes have the opportunity to compete in quality, regular sports competitions, recognising and supporting their individual motivations and aspirations.
The State Sports Manager is responsible for ensuring there are adequate competition opportunities in each official sport, including the offering of State Games competitions in all sports each year, for state selection pathways and to represent Victoria as an active member of our National Sports and Training Team.
